Keeping faith
April 17, 2016 - Author: Randy - No CommentsOn April 3rd, 2016 my father left this life to enter the hereafter and join those of his family who had gone before him. He was 83. The last year of his life was traumatic and hard for him. He had a leg amputated last November and in the last few months had to endure two more revisions due to infections. The last was just a week before he passed on. He was so tired and I think ready to go. In the last couple days he had conversations with his brother and his father both who had passed away many years ago. The loss has been very hard on my mother who would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary just 4 days after he passed. His 84th birthday would have been on the 23rd as well.
My father served in the United States Navy and served two tours in the Korean Conflict aboard theUS Los Angeles.
He was given a proper veterans funeral at the National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC. He was given a 21 gun salute by the Veterans Honor Guard from Clemmons, NC and taps was played. The folded flag was presented to my mother properly and emotionally.
He will be missed by many but we all know he is resting comfortably now and is in a much better place where all his pain and suffering have passed away. God will watch over him and take care of him as we wait for the day when we can again join him in God’s glorious Heaven.
I will miss you dad and will always remember that you lived your entire life as a good man. Rest peacefully.
